I’ve been obsessed with turmeric milk lately. It’s spicy and sweet and so comforting warmed in the mornings or even right before bed at night!
I recently read an article that stated if you have 1 tsp of turmeric per day it can drastically lower your risks of cancer, depression and allergies. Why? Because turmeric is a proven powerful anti-inflammatory and helps fight inflammation in our system. Inflammation is where disease breeds, so if we can fight inflammation we can fight disease.
In this article a group of doctor’s tested on humans how turmeric affected their bodies. One group consumed 1 tsp of turmeric by capsule and the other group consumed 1 tsp of turmeric that was incorporated into their food everyday. What these doctors found was the people who took the capsules had very little change in their gene pools. However, the people who consumed the turmeric by their food had significant changes in their system and it changed the gene that is associated with cancer, depression and allergies. The turmeric was actually able to reset their genes software. Amazing!
You can actually add this pumpkin spiced turmeric milk to your coffee and it literally tastes like a pumpkin spiced latte!
Pumpkin Spiced Healing Turmeric Milk
Yields 4 cups
4 cups coconut milk
2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice + plus more to top
4 pitted dates
Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend until completely smooth and the dates are absorbed.
Add turmeric milk to a sauce pan and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan and let it simmer for 10 minutes. You can drink it right away or store it in air-tight mason jars for later use.
Serve warm and sprinkle additional pumpkin pie spice on top before drinking. Enjoy!
